Friday the 13th Writing Duo Clean Up 'Inland Saints'

This movie has it all. Action, horror, Joel Schumacher and scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who wrote New Line Cinema's forthcoming FRIDAY THE 13TH and the popular FREDDY VS JASON. The duo were brought in to do a complete overhaul of Paramount's urban crime drama Inland Saints, which Schumacher is attached to direct. Read all about it inside.

The project, formerly called "Fix" and set up at the studio last year based on a pitch by Kurt Sutter, had centered on the leader of a dangerous street gang who meets and falls in love with the daughter of the detective hired to bring down the gang.

Shannon and Swift are taking the project in a new direction. It is now described as an action horror pic set in a small-town desert wasteland gripped by drugs and gangs, with plot details still being hashed out.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing via his Par-based shingle alongside Eli Holzman. Erik Howsam is exec producing.

Shannon and Swift wrote the 2009 relaunch of "Friday the 13th," a Paramount-New Line co-production, which Platinum Dunes is producing and Warner Bros. is distributing.

*The article also reveals that most recently they wrote JERRY THE GIANT KILLER, which Sam Raimi and Josh Donen are producing for Columbia Pictures. We'll try and find out more on this project over the next few days.

Not sure what you guys are talking about, because FvsJ was one of the most fun movies I'd seen in ages! It portrayed both characters well, and actually had a decent plot device that brought them together. These guys did a better job than anyone else could have hands down.

I've never seen inland saints. Thanks to remakes, I'm going to now hunt it down and watch it. These guys can go either way wither their script and I am still giving them the benefit of the doubt that Ronny Yu ruined FvJ, not them. We'll see with the new Friday. Like I said though, hate on remakes, but without them I'd never know about the original. Remakes really are not a bad thing.

birkhill, i agree w/ you. i LOVE Jason and i like Freddy and i just hated how they were portrayed in FvJ. i'm not sure if it was Ronnie's fault or these guys's. i have a feeling it was all involved. FvJ was just excruciatingly bad (IMO)and NOT in the good bad kind of way!

Well, I've seen each movie more times than I can remember, and own them each on DVD along with lots of memorbilia...so yeah, I'm a fan. Freddy was Freddy, and well...Jason was Jason. Was it because you guys are from the jaded Hodder fan camp? Because if that's the only reason, then I certainly don't agree with being let down at all, as I was a fan well before Jason became the teleporting line backer. I have yet to hear any valid reasons why that movie sucks.

Freddy vs Jason was entertaining. Have seen it twice; and that's enough for me. The others I can watch over and over again, even Jason X. The biggest issue was the cattle. They were so disgustingly annoying, it was hard to handle. Yes, it's fun to see annoying people killed in horror flicks, it is a great release. But I wanted to end my own life after 5 minutes with these losers. It wasn't well written. Bad Story. Bad characters. I hope they don't F up the Friday prequel, but they most likely will.
