I know the lot of you think Magnolia Pictures' Korean monster flick The Host is a masterpiece, but I'm going to stand firm in my belief that the film is not only overrated, but incredibly flawed. The idea of remaking the film sounds like a good idea to me, especially if they can find a way to differentiate it from CLOVERFIELD. We can debate this all day, but I know have a wild card in the fact that Universal Pictures just tapped the awesome Gore Verbinski (The Ring, Pirates of the Caribbean) to produce the creature feature. This weekend I sat down to watch the highly anticipated Animals, the big budget adaptation to Craig Spector's novel about man's internal rage. What I witnessed was nothing short of an atrocity. "ANIMALS fails on every single level and left me in a state of shock. When it was all said and done I would have needed to fill an entire notebook to list all of the problems. I highly recommend watching this film only to witness what is one of the single worst horror movies ever made. Although difficult to make it from start to finish, it’s so bad that it actually becomes captivating... I think credit it due for Director Arnold Cassius who turns in quite possibly one of the worst horror films ever made." Click the title above for the full review.

I personally hated Douglas Buck's remake of SISTERS, which is why I'm not all that excited for his next project, The Broken Imago. It's also a tough subject to cover, man vs nature, even Jamie Blanks failed with his remake of LONG WEEKEND, which I had high expectations for. If you click over to BDTV you can watch a very early teaser trailer for IMAGO, which looks so-so, what do you think? A vengeful nature has unleashed a powerful virus from the world’s diminishing rainforests. Transmitted through air and touch, the virus physically assaults the doomed infected, violently twisting their bodies into strange intolerable shapes.
If you click on over to BDTV you can check out six clip from Anchor Bay Entertainment's The Alphabet Killer, which is now in New York and Los Angeles theaters with a January 6, 2009 DVD release planned. In the film a ten year old girl is found brutally murdered outside the small blue-collar city of Rochester, New York, and obsessed police detective Megan Paige (Eliza Dushku) suffers a mental breakdown while trying to solve the crime. But when the child-killings resume two years later, Megan’s return to the investigation also brings back her own horrific hallucinations. Even if she can prove a ‘double initial’ connection to the slayings, will she hang onto her sanity long enough to catch a psychopath?
